Sweat Equity
Work hundreds of hours (sweat equity) in building your house and the houses of others.
This labor reduces the cost of the houses, increases the pride of ownership and fosters the development of positive relationships with others in the community.
We welcome enthusiastic volunteers of all skill levels! We provide any training and tools you will need. We generally work on Saturdays during the months of August – October.
Families who partner with Habitat for Humanity are extremely grateful for your help. A decent home gives them the strength, stability and independence they need to create a better life for themselves and their families.
Habitat is not a give-away program. Rather, it is a joint venture in which those who benefit from the housing program are actively involved in the work at various levels. Homeowner families invest 200 of hours of their own labor – “sweat equity” – in building their own house and the houses of others. This labor reduces the cost of the houses, increases the pride of ownership and fosters the development of positive relationships with others in the community.
